My Father in Egypt, early'60s

Arabesque International is a family owned and operated breeding program producing purebred Arabian and Straight Egyptian horses. We have lived in San Diego County, California for over 20 years with our three children, Preston, Dean and Alanna. Originally from Australia, I met my husband Hugh, a Canadian, and moved to the U.S. where we’ve raised our family. I came from a family of horse lovers, my grandfather had been a jockey and my father is still involved with thoroughbred horses. I grew up showing open and half Arabian horses acquiring wins at our Australian National and Sydney Royal shows under the guidance of my father who had a pony for me by the age of three. Growing up, I was also fortunate to spend two wonderful years in England jumping and hunting with my father.

We have been breeding Straight Egyptian and Purebreds since the early 80's and appreciate horses from all bloodlines but are most often drawn to horses with some egyptian blood usually through the sons and grandsons of the incomparable Ruminaja Ali (Ali Jamal, Anaza El Farid, Thee Desperado). This blood is found in some of the most beautiful horses in the world today.

Alanna and JJ Emrick multi champion and undefeated most classic head '90s.

Since moving to the U.S. in the mid 80’s I was able to attend most Scottsdale shows, Regions 1 & 2 and Egyptian events. However our horses had to take a back seat due to our families many academic and sporting endeavors over the years. Our children Preston, Dean and Alanna have all participated in traveling sports including soccer, gymnastics, volleyball and tennis. We once had Alanna ride to a Region 1 Reserve Championship and had to be in L.A. the next morning for a Regional volleyball tournament to qualify for Junior Olympics. Now, all our children are in college and we have more time to focus on our beautiful Arabian horses.
